The quantum world

Quantum theory is the fundamental theory of physics that describes the world at the smallest scale. In this talk, we present the key ideas of quantum theory, and explain why we cannot use everyday concepts in order to describe the atomic scale. We explain how the apparently paradoxical features of quantum theory form the basis of the coming quantum technologies, that will revolutionize computation and communication.
