EyeWire: Citizen (neuro)scientists

Eyewire is a gamified online citizen science research program that aims at the construction of 3D visualizations of real retinal neurons. The user is trained to observe and colorise 2D electron microscope images so that 3D neuron models are constructed. Thus, the user now belongs to a wide community of gamers-researchers and crucially contributes to the primary analysis of a huge amount of research data and the research on vision, in the long run. During the workshop, a simple theoretical approach along with practical excercise will take place.
